FAQ - Is the French Bulldog right for you??
Q. How are Frenchies around other animals?
A. Normally they are tolerant of other animals if introduced in a healthy manner. Our Frenchies are brought up around other animals so socialization is started early. Many of their behavior will be worked on with obedience training and negative acts should never be encouraged, such as chasing or chewing.
Q. How trustworthy are they with children?
A. A mutual understanding should be established early in the relationship between a new puppy and all family members. Discussing with children that play should be enjoyable, respectful, and kind without teasing there will be a reliable bond. This is a small but playful breed that becomes excited and animated quickly with children running and screaming, so adults should be aware during that time. They adjust well to their surroundings.
Q. I have visitors on a regular basis with a busy household. Will a Frenchie tolerate this well?
A. It is imperative that socialization starts early with any breed. With that started as a young pup they will handle frequent visitors without a fuss or problems for the family. With that being said, a puppy that has little to no socialization from the beginning will have to be handled differently by the family when guests are expected. This is why our puppies start out around family members young and old and other animals, to start socialization of your pup early!
Q. How much exercise does a Rottweiler require?
A. This breed has a lot of character but not long lasting energy. They will take as much activity as you can give them. Adjusting well to their environment. They can, however, be overheated or overworked due to their petite size. So its always important to keep an eye on their behavior.
Q. How do I handle seasonal Allergies if they get them?
A. French Bulldogs are notorious for getting seasonal allergies. To help prevent skin irritation and scratching we suggest a few things. Apple cider vinegar has shown to help with this and can be added to their water or food, just a teaspoon a day. If periods of the year are worse than others vets state that over the counter allergy medicine can be beneficial for short periods of time. Please consult with them on dosage and exact type they suggest as each puppy is different. Lastly, chicken byproduct in dog food has been proven to cause allergic reactions. We start the puppies on food with zero chicken included and suggest keeping that diet going forward
